Firstly,
the old concrete is washed with a 3000 psi high water pressure Gerni,
to remove any mould, dirt and most stains that are on the old surface. |
 |
| |
............................................................................... |
|
| 2. |
Any
existing cracks in the concrete are cut out with a diamond blade grinder
and filled with a two-part epoxy resin. |
 |
| |
............................................................................... |
|
| 2a. |
Also,
any imperfections in the concrete are also filled with the same two
part epoxy resin to level off any deep holes. |
 |
| |
............................................................................... |
|
| 3. |
Once
the concrete area is dry, a primer coat is applied to the clean concrete,
which acts as a bonding agent for the other top layers to be applied.
|
 |
| |
............................................................................... |
|
| 4. |
Next
is the base coat which is applied with a rubber squeegee. This method is
done so that all unlevel areas are filled with this coat to give the old
concrete a perfectly clean level. The base coat can be applied in any colour
you choose. |
 |
| |
............................................................................... |
|
| 5. |
Once
the base coat is dry and the old concrete is completely covered and level,
we then mask up all the areas around the concrete to prevent any over spray
and gives our stencilled surface a clean edge finish.
|
 |
| |
............................................................................... |
|
| 6. |
After
the masking up procedure is complete we then lay out the stencil pattern,
which is made of laminated cardboard to whichever way the customer requires.
This particular stencil is a large tile pattern and is laid on a 45-degree
angle with a border pattern around the perimeter of the concrete to give
it a finishing edge. |
 |
| |
............................................................................... |
|
| 7. |
Once
the stencil pattern of your choice is laid and any other features such as
rosettes, diamond centres etc, we then start with the 1st coat of spray.
As you can see, this is coloured cement in a red brick colour and is sprayed
with a hopper gun, which is specially designed for spraying on paving.
|
 |
| |
............................................................................... |
|
| 8. |
After
the first coat is dry, we then apply a second coat to the concrete surface
to give the area a non-slip textured finish. |
 |
| |
............................................................................... |
|
| 9. |
Once
the second coat is dry and the border is sprayed, on this particular job
in a harvest gold colour, we then remove the stencil and begin to broom
and clean the surface from any dust particles that may exist. |
 |
| |
............................................................................... |
|
| 10. |
Then
finally after the whole area is clean and free from any dust or dirt, we
start to apply the final part of the resurfacing procedure, which is sealing
the area with a clean coloured sealer. This sealer coat is applied to protect
the coloured concrete from UV rays, dust, dirt etc, and must be reapplied
ever 1-2 years. |
 |
| |
............................................................................... |
|
| 11. |
The
eleventh stage is an optional extra and consists of extra pattern, centre
features (rosettes), border patterns and customised stencil work which can
be done to suit any of your requirements. |
